Here is information about our Chaplain Fr Devereaux, Deacon Randy and our travel coordinator Claire Waxman:

 

Fr. Devereaux has been engaged in Pastoral ministry for almost 25 years holding a variety of offices – Secretary to the North American Superior of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), pastor of three parishes, spiritual director for Cursillo and numerous individuals, associate Judicial Vicar for the Peterborough Branch Office of the Toronto Regional Marriage Tribunal, Judicial Vicar and Chancellor of Spiritual Affairs for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Peterborough, diocesan spokesperson to the media, etc. He sits as a member on several diocesan committees, a diocesan foundation, and is a Board member for Sacred Heart Catholic College, Our Lady of the Wayside Academy (a private Catholic elementary/secondary school), and Family Foundations Institute (a private foundation dedicated to building stronger families though camps, conferences, faith and family formation). Before studies for priesthood, he was employed as the senior manufacturing engineer at a steel foundry, being responsible for personnel and project completion.

He is a founding member of a new religious community, Servants of the Holy Name of JesusFollowing the Rule of St.  Augustine with a shared love for the joyful spirituality of St. Francis, the community seeks to establish a monastery in the Diocese of Peterborough – serving small rural parishes and fostering, offering hospitality and offering retreats.

 
Deacon Randy Matters was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate for  the Diocese of Hamilton in 2006.  Dcn Randy is married to Joanne for 36 years, with 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.  Recently retired from a successful business career with a large Global Corporation.  He has had the pleasure of serving as deacon at St Paul the Apostle Parish for 8 years and St Gabriels Parish, Burlington for 4 years and is currently stationed at Regina Mundi Church in Hamilton.  Dcn Randy has a background in the Charismatic Renewal, Ignatius Exercises and Benedictine spiritually.
 
He is the Founder / President of Shifra Homes Inc www.shifrahomes.com a maternity home for young homeless women and their child located in Burlington Ontario.  Shifra Homes is named after the midwife in the Old Testament – Exodus 1:15.  Shifra in Hebrew means ‘beautiful’, Shifra Homes is a beautiful ministry that protects and nurtures life.
 
Deacon Randy has started a second career with the focus –  ‘life as a pilgrimage to our Lord’.   Aspects are: Leading Pilgrimages to Holy Sites throughout the world; Retreats leading to a deeper relationship with Christ; Spiritual Direction leading to a greater understanding / realization of the Holy Spirit in our lives; Public Speaking / Missions; and writing.  
 
 
Claire Waxman of Talk of the Town is a very experienced travel coordinator specializing in Christian Tours to Europe and Israel.  With her several years of experience she has a grass roots approach to experiencing religious holy sites and the local culture.  She speaks fluent Hebrew and Arabic.
