In one week I will be on the way to start My Camino!  Can’t believe it, it is coming up fast.  It seems like it was far off, but now I find myself seven days away from boarding my flight to Europe.

An overview of my travels are as follows:

Fly to Paris August 3rd, arrive mid day then catch a high speed train to Lourdes.  I should be in Lourdes the evening of August 4th.  I look forward to touring Lourdes on Saturday, taking in the sites and attending Saturday evening Vigil Mass.

On Sunday make my way to St Jean Pied De Port (SJPP) by train.  SJPP is the starting point for the Camino Frances.   Should arrive early afternoon and enjoy this small town at the foot of the Pyrenees.

Monday August 7th, I start My Camino and I intend to finish around September 9th or 10th.  Here is a site to check out for the route:  http://caminofrancis.info  It shows the route with suggested distances and stops.  It was created by Bryson Guptill from Prince Edward Island.

I look forward to posting regularly, however until I get going I am not sure how frequently.  I do however plan to take notes daily to be able to share more comprehensively in the future.

After finishing the Camino (God willing) I will make my way to Fatima, Portugal.  Will spend a couple of days in the area enjoying the Fatima shrine  and surrounding area.

Then, off to Rome and meet up Joanne for a two week vacation in Tuscany, San Giovanni Rotonda, Sorrento, and back to Rome.  Joanne and I will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary on September 18th.

We conclude our travels and back home on September 30th!

I plan to share one or two posts before I fly out next week.  One on preparation / planning  and one on why I am doing the Camino.
